Tarek Musa is an up coming young producer, mix engineer and songwriter. Having graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), picking up the coveted Sennheiser Studio Excellence Award along the way, he returned to his roots in Manchester and refocused on recording and writing music.
Once home, he began working with some of the UK’s hottest young talent and this year alone has already had his productions and mixes released on labels such as Heavenly Recordings, Tough Love and Killing Moon.
Tarek has also assisted the likes of both Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay) and Ruadhri Cushnan (Ed Sheeran, Little Green Cars) and besides his production and mixing work, he also plays in several bands, spanning several genres and showcasing his talent as a musician. From the epic indie sound of Kankouran, which had a track used as the main soundtrack on the last series of Skins, to the raw punk rock attitude of Spring King which has not only had a recent synch with Adidas, but has had a whole host of glowing reviews from the likes of NME, The Line Of Best Fit and Fake DIY. Then there’s also the tongue-in-cheek surf pop of The Bodyboarders. Tarek’s talent as a songwriter is clear to see and his burgeoning skills are invariably set to create sparks in the industry.
"Spring King are a garage-rock five-piece who hail from in and around Liverpool and Manchester, helmed by polymath, Tarek Musa. A native of the latter city and producer to some of the North-West’s hottest emerging acts, Tarek is proving something of a go-to-guy for that raw aesthetic so highly sought after by the young and achingly cool with production credits on records by dream-pop kids Châteaux and psych-eccentrics Stealing Sheep amongst others."

"This Manchester five-piece have apparently amassed over 50 songs already. The ones Radar has heard vary wildly, recalling everything from Kurt Vile to Iceage. Recent video 'V-V-V-Vampire' is punk as it should be - totally rough around the edges, but addictive as hell."
