Jim Anderson

Jim is an incredibly talented and inventive Producer/Mixer/Engineer.

After cutting his teeth with producers such as Owen Morris, Mike Crossey and Stephen Street, it didn't take long before Jim moved into the producer's chair himself and in 2011 Jim worked on the hugely critically acclaimed new album for Twilight Sad 'No One Ever Knows' providing additional production, mixing and programming. He also mixed the majority of the tracks on 2:54's debut EP for Fiction Records alongside Alan Moulder's mix of 'Scarlet' and recorded and mixed Anna Calvi's debut single 'Jezebel' with Rob Ellis producing.

Jim's intuitive ear also led him to work with and nurture the talent that is Cold Specks. Jim's involvement in this project was hugely fundamental in getting it off the ground, and as producer, arranger, and musical director; following his instinct on this artist has certainly paid off.

After an early Later with Jools performance and rave reviews for debut single 'Holland' the album 'I Predict A Graceful Expulsion' went on to be nominated as Juno breakthrough artist of the year and shortlisted for the Polaris Prize!

Jim recently produced and mixed the debut forthcoming album for the band Grass House recently described by Pitchfork as being 'like Nick Cave reciting a ghost story to small children over a gothy, bluesy guitar burr' and receiving single of the day plaudits from both Rough Trade & The Guardian. He has also provided add Production and mix skills on the recently released debut album for Hook & The Twin and has a cut on the new Moby album – the first single 'A Case For Shame' featuring Cold Specks has just been previewed and is picking up amazing press already.

Jim is currently producing the follow up to 'I Predict A Graceful Expulsion'... watch this space...

Excerpt from Notion mag interview with Cold Specks:

NM:"Who are the people in your life who have influenced and affected your music the most?"

CS: "My producer Jim Anderson. When Jim first came in contact with me two years ago, the songs were very basic. He convinced me to book a one-way flight and record the album. He gave me time to grow as a songwriter, guitar player and singer. I don't think I ever fully understood my voice until our very first session at Monnow Valley in April of 2010. Cold Specks wouldn't be the same without him."
