More superb reviews have come through for the album 'Sprinter' from Torres, co-produced by Rob Ellis.
Check out the reviews below:
Pitchfork: "Scott shrouds her voice with feedback and heavier rock instrumentation, created alongside PJ Harvey producer and percussionist Rob Ellis. The sound is like a gauze bandage covering the emotional wounds, the profound isolation and fear of abandonment, that sit at the heart of Sprinter" (8/10)
Paste Magazine: "Sprinter crackles and explodes, with a dynamic range that’d make Steve Albini blush"
Consequence of Sound: "Each chorus on “Strange Hellos” intensifies until she sounds ferocious, threatening to swallow the audience whole with her conviction. It’s a powerful start to an album where power is par for the course"
Drowned In Sound: "With its even split between LOUD and quiet, Sprinter manages to be defiant at its most minimal"
The Quietus: "That clarity of focus is apparent on Torres' quite wonderful second album Sprinter which sees Scott embrace a fuller more expansive sound. This sonic leap forward in no way lessens the impact or the intimacy, nor does it diminish her warmth or authenticity... Sprinter is the sound of an artist stepping out of the DIY shadows empowered and emboldened"
Torres has released her latest album 'Sprinter' on Partisan Records. Created with Transgressive Producer Rob Ellis, the album has had received a huge amount of love and support from the press. Check out a few highlights below:
Rolling Stone - "[Torres] detangles years of spiritual unrest on her stirring second album. She recorded the set in an old children's nursery in rural England with co-producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley, who help give her steely reflections a ghostly vibe"
The Guardian (4/5) - "Astonishing and unpredictable...Sprinter combines the raw energy of Torres’s 90s forebears with modern minimalism; the result is captivating"
Uncut (8/10) - "this record is ambitious and multi-faceted, sometimes a thing of quiet, folksy restraint, but as likely to dive into a watery sonic netherworld, or strap on some grungy dynamics to get its kicks"
NY Times - "The musicians firm up and extend the dynamics that were already churning on Torres’s self-titled 2013 debut album. There’s a sinewy indie-rock band at the core of the songs, while other sounds often emerge from shadowy fringes"
Stereogum - "It’s a stirring, powerful, and oftentimes dark thundercloud of a record, more concerned with getting to the truth rather than settle for satisfyingly simple answers"
Spring King - brainchild of Transgressive Producer, Tarek Musa - have released their new EP 'They're Coming After You' on limited edition vinyl via Handsome Dad Records (UK) to a host of excellent reviews alongside BBC 6Music, Radio One Introducing, Amazing Radio and Xfm playlistings. Check out some highlights below:
NME - "Fun and frenetic indie [showing] new layers to singing drummer Tarek Musa's gang....bouncing pianos leading echoing, infectious vocals... feral garage-rock excellence"
DIY - "these songs represent Tarek Musa and co.’s most assured move yet, a brilliantly barmy combination of fuzz-drenched garage punk and suburban uneasiness"
Noise Cannon (9/10) - "They’re Coming After You is a five track bundle of energy and youthful excitement, wrapped up with phenomenal guitar riffs and contagious choruses, leaving you giddy and skittish after listening.
Alt Corner - "Erratic and spacey, ‘They’re Coming After You’ is a fidgety ode to paranoia, in which drummer/vocalist Tarek Musa’s production hits impressively plush new heights"

Pitchfork have announced the new Torres album, 'Sprinter'. The record was produced by Transgressive's Rob Ellis, with a backing band featuring Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley and PJ Harvey's bassist Ian Oliver.
The record has been described by Stereogum as "noisier, vicious rock without losing any of her razor-sharp songwriting" with opening track 'Strange Hellos' seething "with hatred, attempted forgiveness, and bitterly-admitted love", with Consequence of Sound dubbing it "A grunge-y yet emotive rocker, it sees Torres dishing out spine-tingling, guttural screams like all hell’s broken loose".
Listen to the album opener 'Strange Hellos' here.
'Sprinter' will be out 05/05/2015 US and 18/05/2015 in the UK/Europe via Partisan.
In their stream of the track, DIY had described the track as "devilish in detail, it possesses the same sinister undertones that’s given Gengahr’s psych rock a genuine edge up to now".

"When I first met Anna, I could see that she could collaborate. Not everyone can. You really have to leave your ego at the door. My first impressions were that she was very beautiful and that she had a very nice guitar. We ended up having a lot of fun... It's usually fun working with women."
This track, along with the rest of the 'Give My Love To London' LP, was co-produced byTransgressive producer Rob Ellis and will be released 29/09/2014.
The beautifully shot film for 'Falling Back' was shot on location in Sweden and created by Martina Hoogland Ivanow and Samantha Morton. Watch below.

The new Mogwai album Rave Tapes produced by Paul Savage was released on ‘Sub Pop' in the US and their own label ‘Rock Action' in the UK early 2014, recorded at Mogwai's ‘Castle of Doom' studio in Glasgow. Paul also produced Mogwai's Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Willand worked on their debut Young Team. The album is available on CD, LP, digital and a limited edition box set and was released 20th January 2014.
The first release of the album Remurdered, caused a flurry of excitement on twitter and a host of reviews including this:
"The atmosphere is mostly night shivers coupled with blocky electronics, echoing back to technology-gone-wrong movies such as Westworld and Ringu. Mogwai's mastery of the patient build hasn't changed, as "Remurdered" heads down a mazy path while the volume gradually increases, ultimately peaking in a mesh of criss-crossing synthetic textures". Pitchfork
